Introducing S.P.A.C.E.4.0
Porsche commissioned my commemorative book writing services for a publication celebrating the relocation of its Shanghai and Beijing offices. I provided copywriting and copyediting for the project, working alongside a talented team of creatives.
More than simply an office space, S.P.A.C.E.4.0 is built to meet the requirements of the modern workforce. It is designed for creativity, innovation and connection so that Porsche can meet the opportunities and challenges of the digital age and launch itself into the future.
A Shift in Workplace Culture
While the commemorative book project started in December 2019, Porsche paused the project as the COVID-19 pandemic upended the traditional working world. Coming back to the project as the commemorative book writer several months later, there was an opportunity to adjust and update the narrative to reflect the rapid transformation that took place.
In a matter of months, the working world looked completely different. This required adjusting and updating certain parts of the book to reflect a more fluid and flexible work culture and the still evolving legacy the pandemic would leave on the role of the office.
Diverse Chapter Content
S.P.A.C.E.4.0 is built for all employees, and Porsche undertook significant consultation with staff to hear their needs and thoughts on what the Shanghai and Beijing offices should entail. The commemorative book needed to include the diverse viewpoints, experiences and contributions of those who helped bring S.P.A.C.E.4.0 to life.
Across the commemorative book’s chapters, not only are we introduced to the design concept and practical details of S.P.A.C.E.4.0, but we hear from project partners, including architects and furniture and office space consultants, the team leading the project and Porsche employees using the space.
Looking to the Future
The book's final chapter looks to the future of work and what the transformation of society and technology could mean for the workplace. The project commissioned artists at NØNE Studio, New York, to bring two landscapes of tomorrow to life. It was a pleasure to interpret their illustrations by providing the text explanation for each piece.
